DESI DIALOGUES

Desi Dialogues, is a South Asian Zine.  It is a platform that encourages the South Asian community to speak the unspoken, talk the taboos and voice the silenced.

Our aim is to explore the power of narratives and other creative forms of expression to highlight the disparities and discrimination this community continues to endure endlessly.

It attempts to challenge the norms, stereotypes and stigmas that are mindlessly perpetuated and inherited over generations and pleads for an urgent call for change.

Skirting through Salwars, is our first edition of the zine that pays emphasis on the challenges South Asian women across the globe face as they strive to break free from the assigned gender roles, norms and stereotypes that are placed upon them. Our creative contributors through their powerful narratives, poems and illustrations shed light on the constructs of patriarchy, colorism, body shaming, sexism, workplace norms, economic inequality, tokenism, motherhood, objectification, menstruation taboos…to name a few.

We invite you to embark upon an enlightening and enriching journey with us.
